Margaret E. Ramsey
1920 - 2011

PITTSFIELD Margaret Evelyn Koenig Ramsey joined God on Jan. 16, 2011. A gentle woman, Margaret will be missed by all those she touched with her wisdom and love. Margaret was born in Pittsfield on Nov. 2, 1920, and graduated from PHS and Berkshire Business College. She married Charles Robert Ramsey on Nov. 11, 1941, and was his loving partner and helpmate throughout their many achievements. Margaret worked at GE after Business School and at Mike's Berkshire Hills Shop as a bookkeeper from 1958 until the store closed. Her co-workers considered her a dependable, hard-working friend. Throughout her life Margaret was the go to person if someone needed help with caring for themselves or their children. Even when she was a young mother she was willing to rush into a burning house to save what she could for others. She kept confidences, extended advice if requested, and was always willing to lend a healing or helping hand. Her creativity in antique refinishing, making clothes, quilts, and drapes was not only shared through gifts and donations but she was a patient teacher with whoever wanted to learn from her incredible knowledge. Her children's friends all wanted to adopt Margaret as their Mom. From her nieces and nephews to her caregivers at the hospital and rehab center, the most common remarks about her were how sweet she is and that "she is one of the finest people I have ever had the pleasure to know". Margaret leaves her husband, Bob Ramsey; a son, Robert and his wife, Cheryl, of Rochester, N.Y.; her daughters, the Rev. Carol Ramsey of Lenox and Tress Lin Ramsey and her partner, David Clark, of El Sobrante, Calif.; her two grandchildren, Dana Alexander and her husband, Scott, of Penn Yan, N.Y., and Lee Anne Weldon and her husband, Christopher, of San Francisco, Calif. Margaret had five great-grandchildren, Sarah Michelle, Jarett Kane, Jens Joseph and Colin Robert Alexander, and Henry Miles Weldon. Her sister, Ruth Jones, lives in E. Falmouth. She was predeceased by three brothers: Edward, Herbert and Walter Koenig. Although she will be strongly missed, it will be with gratitude that she blessed our lives for as long as she did and as completely as she did. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held in the spring when it is safer traveling for those who love Margaret.
